THE MONTET BOTANICAL GARDENS
The
Jardin Botanique du Montet, an authentic living museum of plants,
graces the outskirts of the Nancy urban area. Created
in 1975, the gardens and conservatory have a dual scientific
and cultural mission. They are jointly managed by the Université Henri
Poincaré, Nancy 1 and the Urban Community of Greater Nancy
(Communauté Urbaine du Grand Nancy).
Extending over 27 hectares, the garden grows over 12,000 plants
from every continent giving visitors an idea of the extraordinary
resources of the plant world.
Collections
A
variety of collections allow visitors to familiarise themselves
not only with the plants they find in their own gardens, but
also with species native to far-distant countries.
Lose yourself in the 2,500 m2 of tropical greenhouses with their
giant water-lilies, orchids, banana, coffee and citrus trees,
cacti, etc.
A visit to these lovely gardens fast turns into an exploration
of its wonders.
A wide choice of activities (botany courses,
conferences, visits, exhibitions) is offered as part of the botanical
garden’s
educational mission.
